Reality TV star Garrick Merrifield, who is best known for TLC’s Seeking Sister Wife, was arrested in Colorado on Monday. As per the new details from court documents, he is reportedly facing a charge which is listed under ‘Domestic Violence’. This has raised many questions about what really happened inside the Merrifield household. Garrick was released from custody later the same day.

Why has Garrick Merrifield been arrested?

As per to LexisNexis records, Garrick is charged with ‘Domestic Violence’ with a specific offense listed as ‘Telephone-obstruct service’. As per Colorado law, this crime is committed by a person if they knowingly prevent or delay any telephone or electronic communication, making it a class 1 misdemeanor. For instance, taking a phone away from someone to prevent them from making a call, or cutting a telephone line or cable, or disabling a cell phone or jamming a signal, or unplugging a phone cord. As per the Court documents, the incident took place on Saturday, November 22. A mandatory protection order was also issued during Monday’s hearing.

Was he charged with domestic violence against first wife Lorrana?

Photos from Garrick’s court appearance has gone viral on social media. The pictures show that a Portuguese interpreter was present during the hearing. This has led to speculation that the case may involve Garrick’s Brazilian wife Lorrana, with whom he welcomed a child a few months ago. However, this has not been officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, a new social media page has been created for Merrifields which excludes Lorrana. Fans are completely shocked. “It’s insane that Danielle’s first course of action was to create a new social media page,” one of them wrote.

Garrick Merrifield’s plural marriage

Garrick legally married Lorrana in October 2024. The couple welcomed a baby girl in July 2025. He remains in a plural marriage with his first wife, Dannielle, with whom he shares three older children. The couple divorced legally years ago so Garrick could marry two Brazilian partners. At the time of his arrest, Garrick, Dannielle, Lorrana, and all four children were reportedly living together.
