90 Day Fiancé star reveals shock ALS diagnosis 10 years after father died from same horrific disease

90 DAY Fiancé star has revealed she’s been quietly battling ALS and has been leaning on her husband for support.
Jenny Slatten, 68, who stars in the upcoming third season of 90 Day: The Last Resort with her husband Sumit Singh, 38, opened up about her heartbreaking diagnosis.
In an interview with People, the TV personality shared that she received the grim diagnosis in December, one year after her symptoms began.
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a neurological disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, per the Mayo Clinic.
Rapid muscle weakness and the loss of mobility and speech are prominent symptoms of the disease.
Jenny revealed she’d experienced her first symptom in December 2024, when she choked “badly” while drinking water.

Shortly after, the TV star began suffering from migraines and struggled to swallow pills.
Jenny and Sumit admitted they weren’t initially concerned, likening her difficulty swallowing to “some kind of infection,” especially considering her condition slightly improved after she began taking medication.
However, more alarming symptoms arose, including noticeably slowed speech, where she’d often avoid conversations or refuse to talk altogether.
“That’s when we knew something was wrong,” Jenny told the outlet.
Fans also expressed concerns for Jenny after her speech seemed off in an interview this past December, when she traveled to New York City for a 90 Day Fiancé holiday party.
“I was thinking that maybe … Jenny didn’t even sleep,” Sumit recalled, before one commenter suggested that Jenny could be suffering from ALS, prompting him to research the disease.
“And then I find out that these symptoms she was having — this is what it looks like,” Sumit shared.
Jenny’s father passed away more than a decade earlier after battling ALS, which also raised the likelihood of her symptoms being related.
Doctors still weren’t immediately convinced, as they initially believed her symptoms were due to “a little clot” in her brain.
However, after seeking a second opinion, she’d learned that it was, in fact, ALS.
“We cried and held each other,” Jenny shared with People about the moment she and Sumit were informed of her fatal diagnosis.
Sumit said that doctors assured them that Jenny’s ALS “is slow” and they’ve been exploring other potential treatments, although there’s no cure.
“Right now, we’re just looking and searching,” Jenny said, adding that she hopes that by sharing her story, “maybe somebody will come forward with something” that could help.
Jenny and Sumit reside in India and are determined to live their lives to the fullest, no matter what lies ahead.
“I don’t want to be treated any different,” Jenny insisted.
“Let’s just live our life as we have been while we can.”
Sumit also gushed about his wife, whom he married in 2021 in a televised wedding on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way.
“Honestly, I never felt this much love, or I can love anyone this much,” he said.
“I used to … live for myself. But from [the] last so many years, I feel like doing [things] for someone who you love gives you happiness, I think that’s what love is.
“And that’s why we do things for each other, and that’s what make each other happy,” Jenny added.
Jenny and Sumit will appear on 90 Day: The Last Resort, premiering on June 1 at 8:00 p.m. EST/PST on TLC.
