‘Y&R’ Alum Kelly Kruger Joining ‘General Hospital’
Actress Kelly Kruger has been part of a few daytime dramas over the years. Recently, it’s been announced that she can add General Hospital to her resume. Since then, the actress has opened up about what it’s like to join Port Charles, with another figure also weighing in.
Kelly Kruger Was Previously On The Young & The Restless And The Bold & The Beautiful
Kruger is known for her work on soaps. Starting in 2002, she joined The Young and the Restless as Mackenzie Browning, appearing as the character on and off over the years.
In 2014, Kruger also took on the recurring role of Eva on The Bold and the Beautiful. In addition, her primetime roles include shows like Criminal Minds and Entourage, as well as Hallmark movies like A Very Corgi Christmas.
Recently, it’s been announced that Kruger would join the cast of General Hospital. She will take on the role of Serena Baldwin, who was previously portrayed by Carly Schroeder from 1997 to 2017. She originally portrayed the role on the spin-off, Port Charles, before joining the parent show.
Fans last saw the character return to Port Charles in 2017 with the news that her grandfather, Lee Baldwin, had passed away. While the character hasn’t been seen in-person since then, she hasn’t been forgotten. In 2022, it was shared that she had been arrested after an altercation with dolphin hunters in the Faroe Islands.
Kruger Recently Talked About What It Was Like Becoming Part Of General Hospital
Speaking with TV Insider, Kruger shared her excitement over her Port Charles debut. She shared, “I am so excited to be joining the show! It’s a literal dream come true to finally get to work with Frank Valentini [executive producer] and Mark Teschner [casting director] after all these years! Daytime has a very special place in my heart, and I have always wanted to work with the actors and writers on this show. I truly believe the level of talent and work they put out is the absolute best.”
As the outlet noted, the actress is keeping busy outside of her return to daytime television. A thriving content creator, she is currently considered one of TikTok‘s top beauty influencers. In fact, she was named TikTok Shop’s Beauty Creator of the Year back in 2025.
Reportedly, Kruger’s filming started on June 8. She teased, “I’m honored and excited to be stepping into this role. I cannot wait for the fans to meet Serena!” Executive Producer Frank Valentini also added, “I am excited to have Kelly Kruger join the cast of General Hospital. She’s a terrific actor and we look forward to working with her.”
