Former Bachelorette Katie Thurston was diagnosed with breast cancer early last year and has been keeping followers updated throughout her treatment journey online.
Katie later shared that her breast cancer had spread to her liver and progressed to stage 4. Soon after, she began a new treatment plan, and the tumors in her body started shrinking.
Recently, Katie received a double mastectomy and has been keeping followers updated with her health.
Earlier this year, she also revealed the heartbreaking news that her mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer as well, amid her own battle.
Katie had strongly encouraged her mom to get more testing done after a mammogram came back with “benign” results, which is when the cancer was discovered.
Now, Katie has taken to her Instagram Story to share an update on her mom’s health, which involves good news!
She said, “I pushed and pushed my mom to get an MRI after learning she had dense breasts and was entitled to one. We were able to find her cancer at stage one. She had a lumpectomy and today was her last day of radiation!! 21 rounds and this tough mama got to ring the bell!”
Katie then posted a video of her mom finished with treatment and expressed, “So proud of my mom 💕”
In the video, her mom also read a poem that said, “Strike this gong for you have been so strong. And so declare today, ‘My treatment is done! The course is run, and I’m on my way.’”
The Bachelor Nation star re-posted her initial post about her mom’s diagnosis on her Instagram Story and revealed the amazing news that her mom is now cancer free!
She wrote, A reminder about my mom’s journey. Today she is cancer free!”
