Kelly Jo previously took to Instagram to share a heartwarming trip with her daughters, Josie, Carlin, and Katie. According to the Bringing Up Bates star, her daughters decided to take her out for a special trip on her birthday. They flew all the way to New Hampshire, visiting some iconic places.

Kelly Jo also appreciated the efforts of her daughters, adding that she’d prefer traveling on her birthday than cooking and staying busy at the house to prepare a party. Gil’s wife added, “This will certainly be one of my most treasured birthdays ever ever ever!” But despite all the happiness, Kelly Jo’s latest post indicates that she still suffers from a sad loss.

Kelly Jo Shares Heartbreaking Day

In an Instagram post, Kelly Jo shared a clip of her mother, Betty Jo Smith. She passed away from complications from RSV in 2022. According to Kelly Jo, it was a heartbreaking day for them, but her mother smiled and held their hands as she told them goodbye. The Bringing Up Bates star added that her mom was a strong woman, talented, and diligent.

The mother of 19 admitted that she was constantly surprised by her mother’s skills, adding that she’d read a book from the library to figure out things she didn’t know. Kelly Jo went on to say she’s thankful for the incredible childhood her mom gave her before saying, “I wish so much that I could take another trip to NC to visit… but I’ll treasure these memories of her forever!”

Bringing Up Bates: Fans Continue To Worry For Mama Jane & Papa Bill

Many Bringing Up Bates fans have also been worried for Mama Jane and Papa Bill over the past few months. The two are becoming more prone to illness, especially Papa Bill, who’s starting to suffer more from dementia symptoms. Earlier this year, Carlin Bates Stewart got emotional in a vlog at her grandparent’s house. Papa Bill forgot who she was, and she had to introduce herself again. Carlin went bawling at the car on her way back home, saying that she would spend more days with her grandparents if she could.

On the other hand, Mama Jane recently had her second surgery to remove a cancer on her nose. Fortunately, everything went well, and she’s now recovering at home.
